Located in the southeastern part of Penang Island, Batu Maung is a small town - consisting of several
smaller villages namely Kampung Seronok, Kampung Binjai, Permatang Damar Laut, Kampung Batu Maung,
Kampung Teluk Tempoyak and Kampung Jalan Baru.
For over 20 years, Batu Maung was only a small fishing village accessible only through Bayan Lepas.
Today, Batu Maung is far more than just a quaint fishing village. It depicts all the qualities of a
typical fishing village along with today's modern lifestyle of serenity and exclusivity.
In recent years, Batu Maung has experienced a rapid development due to its proximity to the
Bayan Lepas Free Trade Zone which has now expanded to the Batu Maung area itself. This has contributed
to the population boom since more and more people are starting to settle in this quaint town - taking
advantage of the lower rental and housing rates compared to its more established neighboring areas like
Bayan Lepas and Bayan Baru.
With the new coastal expressway, Batu Maung is easily accessible -with the Penang Bridge only 15 minutes
away and Georgetown less than half an hour away. This growing township is not slowing down, and with the
second Penang bridge in its future development, Batu Maung is no longer the outskirt world it used to be.
It is future of Penang.
